Laure Prouvost

Laure Prouvost’s 'DIT Learn' invites the viewer into a dream-like, pre-verbal condition in which language, objects and words develop new associations and meanings. Through fast paced narration and an accompanying succession of images, Prouvost’s work constructs an anthropomorphized system of categorisation in which objects develop an awareness of their own existence. Seducing us into a synaesthesia-like state, 'DIT Learn' concludes with the diminishment of subjective self-identity: “THIS IMAGE IS YOU… YOU ARE IT… YOU ARE EVERYTHING YOU SEE”.
