Damiano Bertoli’s ‘Continuous Moment: Le désir…' is an episodic manifestation of Pablo Picasso’s quasi-mythic play 'Le désir attrapé par la queue' (Desire caught by the tail). The play, written by Picasso during the German occupation of Paris in 1941, was never staged by Picasso himself. In ‘Continuous Moment: Le désir…’, and also across his wider ‘Continuous Moment’ project, Bertoli examines past and present cultural narratives as an ongoing temporal continuum. Adapting techniques and strategies of collage, assemblage and montage to challenge ideas of authorship, influence, and the inscribed flow of art-historical time.
Damiano Bertoli lives and works in Melbourne, Australia.
